The future of HelponTap is under consideration. It’s about a year since HelponTap was started. The stats are as follows… 165 Oxfordshire charity questions have been asked. Over 300 answers have been provided. These responses have been viewed approximately 49,000 times. 259 grant opportunities have been shared through the site. There are 400+ recipents of the weekly newsletter.
The site to date has principally been run as a volunteer project by me, but I now intend to pass the baton on. I will be shortly attending a meeting where I will discussing its future and who runs it (if anyone) going forward.
Please can you help shape what happens to this site by completing our 60 second survey below on what (if anything) you think is helpful or otherwise!
Toby – Potential is enormous. It’s getting it into people’s eyeline that is the problem. I’m with Grant. The site and format are of use but there’s a passivity to that. People looking for answers rather than stapping up (me included) to provide them. What would you like to see up here as useful contribution?
I completely understand your thinking, and it’s not untypical for such a vital platform or service to be questioned. I am certain that your responses will be extremely supportive, but then I also know how much time, energy and ultimately cost goes into such important resources.
What doesn’t help is the human nature of most people using such resources as spectators without necessarily contributing. That’s underpinned by the number of views and it’s not a criticism of them – we are all so incredibly busy and under pressure in all sorts of ways.
It’s not an exaggeration to say that I refer people to HOT every week – I am half way through an email doing just that now.
So, not sure what else to say – keen to support you and hope you can find a way to keep it going. Also happy to have a chat if you think it could help
All the very best
