Banbury SOUP is a new quarterly microgranting evening that promotes supporting community projects and local causes in Banbury.
For a donation attendees receive soup, bread (and whatever food is supplied on the night – everyone is invited to pitch in with donations), great company and local music, a vote and a chance to hear from our local causes presentations ranging from art, urban agriculture, social justice, social entrepreneurs, education, technology and more.
Each presenter has four minutes to share their idea and answer four questions from the audience. At the event, attendees eat, talk, share resources, enjoy local music and vote on the project they think benefits the town the most. At the end of the night, we count the ballots and the winners go home with their share of the money raised to carry out their projects. Winners can come back to a future SOUP event to report their project’s progress if they wish.
Banbury SOUP hope that this formula will not only help grassroot projects gain much needed funds, but give them a platform to promote their projects to local people.
Banbury SOUP’s mission is to promote community-based development through crowdfunding, creativity, collaboration, democracy, trust and fun.
We value community, creativity, collaboration, change, democracy, trust and fun.
Our Vision for the Future of Banbury SOUP:
With key partnerships and community leaders, we hope Banbury SOUP will change the way people engage with the democratic process and community funding.

Does your local group/project need funds?
How To Pitch Your Project
Banbury SOUP is a great way to raise money, build community support and get connections to local resources that can help you carry out your project.
Your proposal doesn’t need to be a novel. Keep it short, quick and to the point!
Your idea can be about ANYTHING!
The idea must be about the Banbury Area (inc local villages).
You do not have to be a resident to submit an idea.
You have just 4 minutes at the SOUP to get your idea across and 4 questions from the audience.
You can submit your idea more than once! If you idea doesn’t get selected for the next SOUP, apply again! We are limited by time on the number of submissions chosen to share at each SOUP.
Anything you submit (except your phone number) will be used to print at the SOUP for people to read. So make sure you edit, look for spelling errors, etc.
We DO NOT use technology to present – just you, your cause and a mic
Remember you can be as creative in your pitch as you like, this is meant to be a community spirited event to get your ideas across and a platform for you to promote your cause.
